GT's Episode Summary

Summary:Hello and welcome to the best paranormal channel in the world, maybe. In this episode we enter the largest thing Elliots ever been inside, Denbigh Asylum... or North Wales Hospital as it was more recently called.

Hidden among the rolling hills of North Wales, Denbigh Asylum stands as a crumbling monument to a dark past. Opening in 1848, it was meant to be a place of care, a sanctuary for the mentally ill.

Overcrowding, neglect, and primitive treatments turned the asylum into a place of horror. Patients endured electroshock therapy, lobotomies, and isolation. Some were locked away for nothing more than depression, epilepsy, or even simply being different. Many never left. Official records suggest that over 6300 people died within the asylum with their names lost to time. Some from disease, others from maltreatment… and some simply faded away, forgotten.

By the time Denbigh closed its doors in 1995, it had become a decaying relic of a crueler era of mental health care. Now, its empty halls whisper of the past, of pain, of suffering, and of the lost souls who still seem to linger.

Wiki Notes

The beginning of this episode especially gives a subtle glimpse into how slick Joe and Elliot have to be getting into some of these places: on seeing fresh tire tracks on the muddy road, Joe instructs Elliot not to step on the tread marks.

This place just gives a foreboding vibe; I can't imagine it was anything but worse when it was open.
